Continuing & Professional Education

SUMMER SCHEDULE 2008

About the Program

The Center for Continuing and Professional Education provides opportunities for continued learning through courses, programs and events which are not normally part of either an undergraduate or graduate degree program. These opportunities are designed for professional training, skill enhancement and personal enrichment. Formal admission to the university is not required for enrollment and there is no limit to the number of courses a person may take.

Education Credit Courses (CPE Units)

All teachers are advised to consult their school district salary allocation departments and/or union bargaining agreements for semester unit and workload salary point equivalencies prior to registering for CLU education courses for credit. These equivalencies vary by school district. CLU offers a Professional Education Semester Credit, which carries a workload of 15 contact hours per semester credit, with outside assignments at the discretion of the instructor.

Continuing Education Units (CEU)

A CEU is based on 10 contact hours of satisfactory participation in an organized continuing education program. These courses are not designed for application toward a degree or credential, but rather a means of recording non-credit course work.
