Baccalaureate Ceremony

Baccalaureate is a pre-Commencement interfaith ceremony to celebrate CLU graduates and their accomplishments. All graduating students, family, and friends are invited to celebrate this milestone!

This traditional ceremony at Cal Lutheran celebrates students of all faiths, all cultural backgrounds, and all academic programs. A celebration full of joy to share with family and loved ones.

Date: Thursday, May 9th

Time: 4:30 - 5:30 pm

Location: Samuelson Chapel

A brief reception will immediately follow on the Chapel patio, featuring Cal Lutheran's Mariachi Ensemble.

This event is part of the Commencement Celebration series.


What to expect in Baccalaureate Ceremony?
  •  Graduating students are invited to wear regalia (also known as cap or gown, no hat needed) and gather at the Gumby statue at 4:15 pm to participate in a procession
  • Family and loved ones arrive at the chapel at 4:30 pm or before
  • Enjoy the ceremony we have prepared for you from 4:30 to 5:30 pm. Students and faith leaders from different traditions will share reflections
  • A brief reception will follow the ceremony with music and refreshments at the Chapel patio.
