FWS JOB FAIR
The Federal Work Study (FWS) Job Fair for this year has been scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2008 from 8:30 - 10:30 AM in Kingsmen Park. This Job Fair is for FWS recipients only. They have first priority when hiring for on-campus jobs. Students who have not worked on campus previously will need to have the following documents in order to complete required paperwork for hiring:
1) a passport OR
2) a photo ID (driver’s license or student ID) AND proof of citizenship (SSN card or birth certificate)
**NOTE—faxed copies of the above documents are NOT acceptable. Per Homeland Security regulations, we must site verify the original document.
Recent California State regulations regarding flat based compensation (Stipends, bonus, etc..) for hourly employees has the potential for putting the University at risk for penalty violations. This is particularly evident in the practice of giving Student hourly workers incentive bonuses and stipends. Until we can position ourselves to address this regulation, please do not extend hourly workers compensation that is not directly tied to the hourly wage (i.e. hourly rate of pay). Your cooperation is appreciated.
