First Generation Student Support
The college application process can be difficult, especially for those who may be the first in their families to pursue a higher education. We aim to assist our first-generation students by offering resources and scholarships tailored to their needs.
Strive Scholars Program
Supporting first-generation students is a critical component of the Counselor Education program at Cal Lutheran, and we continue to work towards improving educational experiences and outcomes for this important student population.
We are committed to maintaining a supportive learning environment in which first-generation students feel a strong sense of belonging, as well as personal and academic success.
As part of our efforts, we have created the Strive Scholars program to support first-generation students in their academic and leadership development. As part of the program, students will attend four different workshops during the Fall and Spring semester of their first year.
At the end of the Spring semester, they will be invited to apply to be a peer mentor for undergraduate students at Cal Lutheran who are considering graduate school.
