James Fonseca, Ph.D.

Honorary Alumni

Dr. James Fonseca retired in 1994 after 29 years as a CLU Spanish professor.  He died suddenly Dec. 16, 1994.  A man who successfully fused his mother’s love of teaching with his father’s native language, Fonseca brought to life his fondness for Spanish and for his students, year after year.  His role as advisor of Alpha Mu Gamma gave him yet another opportunity to impact the students.  His impact was strongly felt, as evidenced by his selection as 1995’s Homecoming Grand Marshall.

Fonseca spoke sincerely of his “real love for this institution” and of “how important it has been to me and also to my family for so many years”-- no less important than he has been to so many fortunate students.
