Our meal plans are intended to give you value and flexibility.
There are multiple options to ensure that you can find a plan that suits your needs, and they work at every dining location on campus.
- First-year students must select the 19 Meal Plan or the 210 Block Plan.
- Continuing and transfer students living in standard residence halls may choose from the 19 Meal Plan, 210 Block and 190 Block meal plans.
- The Combo and Flex plans are light enough for commuters or those living in apartment-style residences with kitchens.

Meal Plan Details
19 Meal Plan
- The 19 Meal Plan is designed so that students do not run out of meal swipes during the semester, but they do need to budget their meal swipes each week.
- This plan allows for a maximum of 4 meal swipes per day, with a 15 minute “cool down” gap between swipes, up to a maximum of 19 swipes per week. 19 meals are loaded onto student ID cards every Saturday (unused meals do not carry over from week to week).
- If you don't want to worry about budgeting your meals for the semester, this is the plan for you!
210 / 190 Block Plans
- The 210 Block Plan provides an average of 13 meals per week.
- The 190 Block Plan provides an average of 11 meals per week.
- Maximum of 6 swipes per day, with a 15 minute “cool down” gap between swipes.
- These meal plans can run out during the semester, so students must budget their meal
swipes. Meal plan use can be tracked in the MyCLU Portal.
Note: Unused meals for all Mandatory and Voluntary Meal Plans listed above expire at the end of each semester.

Types of Credits
Flex dollars are purchased as part of your meal plan and work like cash at any of the campus dining locations. For example, if you wanted to treat one of your parents to a coffee while they were in town visiting you, you could use your Flex Dollars to do that at Starbucks.
Items purchased with Flex Dollars are not subject to sales tax. Unused Flex Dollars roll over from fall semester to spring semester, but expire and are nonrefundable at the end of the academic year. If you run out of Flex Dollars you can add Munch Money to your ID card.
Munch Money is like cash that can be added to your ID card at any time. It can be used to purchase food at any of the dining locations on campus. Whenever you make a purchase, simply present your card to the cashier and the amount will be deducted from your balance. Munch Money will not expire with your meal plan and sales tax is applied to your purchases.
For every dollar of Munch Money purchased you'll receive 10% more for free! For example, if you purchase $100 worth of Munch Money you'll actually receive $110 in your account.
The 19 Meal Plan, 210 and 190 Block Plans all come with 3 guest meals per semester that can only be used at Ullman Commons. These guest meals can be used to treat a parent or friend that is in town for the weekend. Guest meals do not roll over from semester to semester.
Important Information
All residential students not living in apartment-style residence halls (Kramer, Mogen, Grace, or Trinity) are required to have a meal plan and first-year students must purchase a 19 Meal or 210 Block plan. Only one meal plan may be purchased per semester. All students can purchase a meal plan or request an eligible change of plans by emailing reslife@CalLutheran.edu and inluding their student ID number and requested plan. Plans may not be changed or cancelled after the second friday of the semester but you can add a plan any time if you don't have one.
You'll need to present your ID card each time you visit one of the dining venues to use your meal plan. If you lose your ID card, you will need to replace it immediately because you will not be able to utilize your meal plan without it. If you have lost your ID card, please contact Campus Safety so that they may issue you a new one. The Campus Security non-emergency phone number is 493-3208.
Dining venues have limited hours during break periods and no meal plans can be used over winter break.
