Summer Athletic Camps for Youth Available at CLU

THOUSAND OAKS, CA - California Lutheran University will be the site for multiple youth athletic camps this summer. The camps include instruction in basketball, baseball, tennis, soccer, football, water polo, dance and cheerleading.

The Lu Dog Basketball Camp for boys and girls ages 5-14 will be held July 14-18, July 21-25, and Aug. 4-8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The camps will offer individual instruction in ball handling, passing, shooting, defensive stance and other basic skills. Hoop Rat Point Guard and Perimeter Play Basketball Camp and the Hoop Rat Shooting and Individual Offensive Moves Basketball Camp for boys and girls ages 7-17 will be held in July and August. The Point Guard Camp will be held July 28-30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The three-day camp will focus on developing good communication, how and when to encourage teammates and how to maximize skills. The Shooting Camp will be held Aug. 11-13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Instruction will focus on developing the steps for good form, shooting, moves off the dribble, and how to develop a personal shooting workout. The Lu Dawg Baseball Camps for boys and girls ages 6-14 will be held June 23-27, July 7-11, July 14-18, July 21-25 and July 28-Aug. 1 on the CLU George "Sparky" Anderson Baseball Field. With personal instruction and games, the camps will emphasize fundamentals and techniques of the game of baseball in order to build confidence and reduce risk of injury. The Total Tennis Academy for ages 6-16 will all be five days and will be held every week this summer starting on June 9 and lasting until Aug. 29. The All-American Water polo Academy at CLU camp will be held July 14-16 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is available to youths ages 14 and under. Some members of the USA Water Polo team will be present and available for autographs and pictures. Camp instructors will include collegiate all-Americans and the CLU Water Polo coaching staff. Team Soccer Direct will hold camps for boys and girls ages 5-18 from 9 a.m. to noon for half-days and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for full-day camps. The five-day sessions will be held June 16-20, June 23-27, July 21-25, July 28-Aug. 1, Aug. 4-Aug. 8, Aug. 11-15, Aug. 18-22 and Aug. 25-29. All-Sports Camps for both boys and girls will be held throughout the summer. Full-day (9 a.m.- 4 p.m., ages 8-14) and half-day (9 a.m.- noon, ages 7-14) camps will be held June 16-20, June 23-27, July 21-25, July 28-Aug. 1, Aug. 4-8, Aug. 11-15, Aug. 18-22 and Aug. 25-29. Campers change activities every hour for sports such as basketball, softball, soccer, swimming, outdoor hockey, ultimate Frisbee and dodge ball. Dance/Cheerleading Camps for high school youths will be held July 18-20, July 24-27, July 31-Aug. 3, Aug. 4-6 and Aug. 8-10.
