INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– In his first and only season of collegiate baseball at Cal Lutheran, closer Miguel Salud led the Division III nation in saves with 14 while four-year letter-winner Marshall Pautsch started a nation-best 18 games in his final campaign.

Salud, a native of the Philippines, played a key role in the Kingsmen earning the first NCAA Division III Baseball title for CLU in 2017. He appeared in 33 games, second most among all DIII players this spring, and went on to earn 14 saves with a 3-2 record. He tossed 50.1 innings and struck out 45 batters.

Before Salud could get the ball, Pautsch started a Division III season-most 18 games for the Violet and Gold, producing a 10-3 mark. Nate Wehner also finished with a 10-win season as the pair tied for eighth in the country in wins this spring. Pautsch threw a team-leading 114.1 innings with 105 strikeouts to rank sixth in Division III.

Additionally, junior second baseman Max Weinstein was within three hits of leading the nation, ultimately finishing second with 84. Of those, he collected 13 doubles, five homeruns and two triples.

Rounding out individual performances in the Top-10 this spring was senior right fielder Gabe Gunter who ranked seventh with 20 doubles in his final collegiate season.

As a team, Cal Lutheran was third overall in hits (564), fifth in doubles (108), eighth in sacrifice flies (31), and tenth in win-loss percentage (.784) during its historical season in which the team finished with a 40-11 record.
