Now is the Time Campaign Tops $65 Million –Campus Community Invited to Celebrate

CLU campus campaign co–chairs, Leanne Nielsen, Joe Everson, Julius Bianchi and Sue Bauer along with faculty, staff and administrators officially launched the Now is the Time campaign on campus on Oct. 3 in the Gymnasium.

The University Advancement Division reports campaign gifts and pledges exceeding $65 million as of the end of August. That figure represents 81 percent of the $80 million goal for the comprehensive campaign. The Spies–Bornemann Center for Education and Technology is just one example of the campaign’s successes to date.

In addition to increasing annual giving and endowment, the primary focus for fundraising efforts over the next several months will be the North Campus Athletics Complex. At the heart of the complex will be the long–awaited Sports and Fitness Center. At a cost of $18 million, the 96,000–square–foot center will include two gymnasiums, facilities for strength training and physical conditioning, aerobics and dance, men’s and women’s locker rooms, multipurpose classrooms, a state–of–the–art sports medicine training center and a high–tech exercise science center complete with an athletic training lab and an exercise science and biomechanics lab.
