Samuelson Aquatics Center Naming Notes Major Gift of Samuelson Family

Robert and Doris Samuelson and Jack and Sally Samuelson were honored for their many generous gifts and personal contributions to California Lutheran University at a dinner hosted by CLU Board of Regents on Oct. 24.

The Samuelsons, for whom Samuelson Chapel is named, have directed their latest gift to the North Campus Athletics Complex. The gift provides much of the funding for construction of the long–awaited Samuelson Aquatics Center.

The donation not only created momentum for the Now is the Time capital campaign but also enabled CLU to launch its first competitive water sports program this year. In recognition of this contribution, members of CLU's water polo and swim teams presented the Samuelsons with special monogrammed robes for after–swim lounging.

The Samuelsons have had a hand in the development of CLU from very early on. The Orville Dahl Centrum, Peters Hall, locker room additions, a number of residence halls, Samuelson Chapel, the Soiland Humanities Center and the Spies–Bornemann Center for Education and Technology have benefited from their generosity and professional expertise.

Bob Samuelson has a long history with CLU having served as a regent, a convocator, and as Chair of the Board of Regents Property and Planning Committee. Bob and Doris Samuelson and Jack and Sally Samuelson are residents of La Ca?ada–Flintridge.
