California Lutheran University Faculty Promotions Announced

THOUSAND OAKS, CA –– The Board of Regents of California Lutheran University has approved the following promotions in rank and tenure for faculty, effective August 2005.

Karrolyne Fogel, Ph.D., (Mathematics Department) was granted tenure and promoted to the rank of associate professor. Fogel received her bachelor’s from Santa Clara University and her doctorate from University of Texas, Austin. Julia Sieger, Ed.D., (School of Education) was promoted to the rank of associate professor. Sieger received her bachelor’s from California State University, Los Angeles and her master’s and doctorate from University of San Francisco.

Two associate professors in the School of Education were elected to tenure. Cynthia Jew, Ph.D., received her bachelor’s and master’s from University of Colorado and her doctorate from University of Denver. James Valadez, Ph.D., received his bachelor’s from University of California, Santa Cruz, his master’s from University of California, Los Angeles, and his doctorate from University of California, Santa Barbara.

Faculty members promoted to the rank of full professor are Somnath Basu, Ph.D., School of Business; Herbert Gooch, Ph.D., political science; Robert Meadows, Ed.D., Ph.D., criminal justice; Leanne Neilson, Psy.D., psychology; Reinhard Teichmann, Ph.D., Spanish; and Jarvis Streeter, Ph.D., religion.

Basu received his bachelor’s from University of Delhi, his MBA from Marquette University and his doctorate from University of Arizona. Gooch received his bachelor’s from University of California, Berkeley, and his MBA, master’s and doctorate from University of California, Los Angeles. Meadows received his bachelor’s from Northern Arizona University, a master’s and Ed.D. from Pepperdine and a doctorate from Claremont Graduate School. Neilson earned her bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate from Pepperdine University. Teichmann earned his bachelor’s at University of Toronto and his master’s and doctorate at University of California, Los Angeles. Streeter received his bachelor’s at University of Southern California, his M. Div. at Luther Theological Seminary, his S.T. M. at Yale University Divinity School, and his Ph.D. at Southern Methodist University.
