CLU Community Invited to Tsunami Relief Reception

The Office of University Ministries will host a Tsunami Relief Reception and Update on Monday, May 2, from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Nelson Room. Dr. K. M. Shyamprasad, Chairman of the India Lutheran Health and Medical Board and Chancellor of Lutheran University of India, will be present. Working through the India National Lutheran Health and Medical Board, Dr. Shyamprasad has created a comprehensive relief and psychosocial counseling program, which received support from the CLU community, the Evangelical Lutheran Church International Disaster Relief Fund and Lutheran World Relief.

The Rev. Howie and Mary Wennes will give a brief report on their participation in the Asia–Pacific Congress on Tsunami Mitigation held in Chennai, India, April 1 and 2 and share a video on the work of the Academy for Disaster–Management, Education, Planning and Training.

Faculty, staff and students are invited to ask questions and share concerns about tsunami recovery and rehabilitation.
