California Lutheran University Faculty Promotions Announced

The Board of Regents of California Lutheran University has approved the following promotions in rank and tenure for faculty, effective August 2004.

Granted tenure and promoted to the rank of associate professor are Guy Erwin, Ph.D. of the religion department and Druann Pagliassotti, Ph.D., of the Communication Department. Erwin received his bachelor’s from Harvard College, and his master’s degrees and doctorate from Yale Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Pagliassotti completed her undergraduate studies at University of California, Santa Barbara, and received her master’s and doctorate from University of Southern California.

Also elected to tenure are Henry Alegria, Ph.D., associate professor of chemistry; Beverly Bryde, Ph.D., associate professor of education; and Randall Donohue, Ph.D., assistant professor of business. Alegria received his bachelor’s degree from Harding University and his master’s and doctorate from University of South Carolina, Columbia. Bryde received a bachelor’s and master’s from Villanova University and her doctorate from Widener University. Donohue received his bachelor’s at Willamette University and his master’s from University of Strathclyde (U.K.). He is recently completed his doctorate at University of South Australia.

Faculty members promoted to the rank of full professor are Kristine Butcher, Ph.D., chemistry; Gregory Freeland, Ph.D., political science; Paul Gathercoal, Ph.D., education; Steven Kissinger, Ph.D., psychology; and Gail Uellendahl, Ph.D., education.

Butcher received her bachelor’s from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and a doctorate from Stanford University. Freeland received his bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate from University of California, Santa Barbara. Gathercoal received his bachelor’s from Southern Oregon College, and master’s and doctorate from University of Oregon. Kissinger earned a bachelor’s at University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, and a master’s and doctorate at Kent State University. Uellendahl earned a bachelor’s at Queens College, a master’s at Hofstra University and a doctorate at New York University.
