Dr. Sharon Docter Elected as Chair of the Faculty at CLU

(THOUSAND OAKS, CA – April 2006) – Sharon Docter, Ph.D., a professor of communication at California Lutheran University, has been elected to a two–year term as Chair of the CLU Faculty.

Docter, a resident of Northridge, came to CLU in 1992 after serving as an adjunct professor and lecturer at the University of Southern California. She became the Chair of the Communication Department in 1999 and has remained an active member of the university’s Faculty Committee. Docter has also served on the General Education and Educational Policies and Planning committees. In 1999, she received the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and was also named Professor of the Year.

Prior to becoming a college professor, Docter practiced general business litigation with the law firm of Brobeck, Phleger and Harrison. A native of California, Docter completed her juris doctorate at the University of California, Los Angeles and her master’s degree in communication theory and research at the University of Southern California. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa of Southern California as well as the California State Bar.
