THOUSAND OAKS, CA – Tracy Maple has joined California Lutheran University’s team as Sports Information Director. She comes to CLU from Whittier College, where she served as Sports Information Director overseeing the reporting and media relations for 21 athletic teams in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).

Maple received her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with a concentration in Sports Management from Whittier College where she also received her master of arts and education degree this past spring. An avid athlete who participated in softball, gymnastics and diving in her native Massachusetts and in diving at Whittier College, Maple is well versed in covering all sports. She has experience in writing, media relations, sports promotions, statistics, Web development and photography.

The CLU Kingsmen and Regals athletic teams compete in the SCIAC conference as members of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Division III. The men’s intercollegiate program includes baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field and water polo. Women’s intercollegiate sports include basketball, cross country, softball, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field, volleyball and water polo.

Maple comes on board just in time to move offices into the newly completed Gilbert Sports and Fitness Center. The 96,000-square-foot center houses two major gymnasiums, the Lundring Events Center, a fitness center, a dance studio, classrooms and labs, a sports medicine facility, the Ventura County Sports Hall of Fame, and faculty, coaches and athletics staff offices. The athletics complex also includes the Samuelson Aquatics Center, which is currently under construction; George “Sparky” Anderson Baseball Field and Ullman Stadium; soccer fields; and track and field facilities.
