CLU holds panel on nonprofit jobs

(THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Oct. 9, 2008) The public can learn about careers in the nonprofit world during a forum sponsored by California Lutheran University’s Career Services at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, in the Roth Nelson Room.

The Non-Profit Speaker Panel will feature representatives from variety of organizations. Moriah Harris-Rodger, a CLU alumna, is the executive director of The Guitar Center Music Foundation, a Westlake-Village based organization that awards grants to music education programs across the country.

Susan Englund is the Vice President of Community Impact for United Way of Ventura County. Lindsey Garner is a senior development associate for Many Mansions. Terry Marcellino is the corporate outreach coordinator for Woodcraft Rangers, which has been providing innovative and creative programs for children in the underserved areas of greater Los Angeles for 86 years. Corliss Porter is the clinical director of Turning Point Foundation. Lyn Sylva is the program director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ventura County. Melissa Thompson-Jinariu is a social worker with Inner Circle Foster Care and Adoption Services.

The speakers will discuss positions in the nonprofit industry, critical skills needed for the jobs and how to prepare for a career during the free forum sponsored by CLU’s Career Services.
