WHITTIER, Calif.  – Cal Lutheran concluded the 2012 water polo season with a third place finish at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Tournament after defeating host Whittier 12-11 today.

In the final game of his career Carter Baldwin drew game-highs with six drawn ejections and five steals, adding a trio of assists in the win. Also appearing the Violet and Gold for the final time in a four-year career today was goalkeeper Danny Mock who turned away 14 Poets shots and grabbed three steals.

The teams were tied after the opening two periods, exchanging three goals apiece in the first frame before being knotted at 7-7 going into the intermission. CLU netted four goals in the third, allowing just two, to take a lead entering the final quarter of action and held on for the win.

Hunter Hamaker led the team with four goals while Shea Craig netted two. Michael Potter scored once and handed out three assists. Rounding out his two-year stint at CLU, Dejan Novakovic scored once for the Kingsmen. The other three goals came from AJ Franklin, Nathan Ortega and Max Zappas.

Kyle Norheim finished with a pair of steals for CLU today.

Cal Lutheran (15-14, 6-5 SCIAC) finished third at the SCIAC Championship Tournament as well as third overall in the final league standings.
