Former CLU Academic Vice President Memorialized with Living Lab

A dedication ceremony for a living lab honoring the late Dr. Rudy Edmund will be held on Monday, May 5, at 2 p.m. on Mountclef Ridge, located above CLU's North Campus.

Dr. Edmund, a professor emeritus of geology and a former Vice President for Academic Affairs, died in 1997 after serving as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College from 1969 to 1973 and as a professor of geology from 1974 to 1980.

A native of Iowa, Dr. Edmund received his bachelor's degree from Augustana College in 1934, followed by his master's and doctoral degrees in geology from University of Iowa. He worked as a geologist in the oil industry and served as a professor at Augustana College before coming to California in 1969.

Dr. Edmund is credited with developing and coordinating the successful Senior Mentor Program at CLU. He also researched and published extensively on the need to preserve the ecologically precious Mountclef Ridge.
