Council of Graduate Deans

The Council of Graduate Deans (CGD) is comprised of Gerhard Apfelthaler (School of Management), Mike Hillis (Graduate School of Education), Rick Holigrocki (Graduate School of Psychology), and Alicia Vargas (Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary).

The purpose of the CGD is a leadership structure that supports and promotes graduate education at Cal Lutheran. The CGD works to find convergences across the graduate areas and centralize support areas across the campus to ensure that policies, procedures, and decisions benefit graduate education as a whole.

By working together as graduate programs, the CGD strives to improve the totality of the Cal Lutheran graduate experience, including graduate programs, graduate teaching, graduate research, graduate academic and financial support, graduate faculty, and graduate students.

Biweekly Meetings

The CGD meets twice a month to address issues that arise within graduate education as well as to discuss strategic planning. Members of the Cal Lutheran community (faculty, staff, and students) are encouraged to submit questions/suggestions here or speak directly to one of the four graduate deans.
