CTL Staff

Joan Wines, Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning, holds a Ph.D. from USC and two M.A. degrees. In addition to her duties as professor and chair in CLU's English Department, she directs the Writing Center at CLU. Dr. Wines also advises the staff of the Morning Glory, the university's award-winning literary publication. Along with Dr. Bernfried Nugel of the University of Muenster and Dr. Peter Firchow of University of Minnesota, Wines organized the 4th International Aldous Huxley Symposium co-convened by the Huntington Library and California Lutheran University (July 30 - August 3, 2008).
David Grannis, who has an MFA in film from UCLA, is CLU's Instructional Systems and Services Director of Educational Technology. He supervises the university's Media Services department and teaches video and film production in the Communication Department. Before coming to CLU, he worked for ten years as a sound editor for Hollywood feature films. David has recently been elected to the post of Vice President for DET/CHE (Directors of Educational Technology for California higher education). He was previously the Southern California Regional Director. David is also a board member for ETC Channel 21, Conejo Valley's educational television station.
Eileen Leese is the Assistant Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning. She trains faculty and staff on Blackboard while also supervising the CTL lab and projects.
