Enhancing personal growth and academic achievement
Residence life works to create a living environment that promotes and enhances student education opportunities. In addition to supporting the safety, comfort and well-being of our resident students, we seek to help each student feel a connection to the Cal Lutheran community and respect for all of its members.
Residency affords tremendous opportunity to get involved and participate in the many activities that take place on campus. Together we can create a community atmosphere which celebrates diversity and fosters individual development.
California Lutheran University sustains a commitment to diversity. We firmly believe our culture is enhanced when individuals of diverse backgrounds and experiences become part of the University family. In the department of Residence Life, we respect and celebrate each member of the communities in which we work and live, inclusive of all aspects of individual and group identity and experience.
We respect and celebrate individuals, inclusive of, but not limited to, their:
- Educational level
- First Language
- Gender Expression
- Geographic Origin
- Learning Style
- Marital Status
- Parental Status
- Political Affiliation
- Sexual Orientation
- Socio-Economic Status
- Veteran Status
Residence Life guarantees housing for all full-time undergraduate students, and provides on-campus living opportunities for graduate students as well. We view living on campus as an important part of a student's complete educational experience. As part of Cal Lutheran’s commitment to developing and sustaining residential communities that are welcoming and inclusive, the department offers gender-inclusive housing options in all residential communities for first-year, transfer, and returning students.
