Basic FunctionUnder the direction of the Director of Community Counseling Services, Clinical Supervisors provide individual and group clinical supervision to student trainees enrolled in the required Practicum that is a requirement of the Counseling Psychology Graduate Program with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT). Direct clinical services, as well as clinical supervision takes place at the on-site Clinics.
Representative DutiesMeet weekly with trainees in individual and/or group (groups of 8 students or less) supervision sessions. Monitor client progress and the effectiveness of therapy. Serve as a mentor to the student trainees. Model for student trainees the ethical and legal aspect of MFT practice. Monitor and evaluate the progress of trainees with regard to their development as MFTs. Assist trainees with management of client crises/emergencies.
Knowledge OfCalifornia law and ethics related to the practice of MFT. Clinical supervision theory and practice. Current theories and interventions related to the practice of MFTs, including working from a systemic perspective.

Utilize interpersonal skills such as tact, patience and courtesy. Maintain professional liability insurance and licensure. Attend necessary supervision courses
Education and ExperiencePositions are open to Master’s and/or Doctoral prepared persons with a current CA license in Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology or Clinical Social Work. A minimum of three years post-licensure professional experience including work as a clinical supervisor is required. Bilingual in English and Spanish required
