Help Desk News & Updates

[FEBRUARY 1st, 2008] LARGE EMAIL INBOXES.
In order to better increase speed on the CLU mail servers, email notices were sent out this past week to those patrons who have large email folders. Simply moving all or most messages regularly from your Inbox into another created folder (still in WebMail, just out of the Inbox) will significantly reduce the load on our server and allow Webmail to run faster for all users. It is very important that these changes be made! If you are the recipient of one of these notices, please make sure to read this important email. Thank you for taking the time to make these changes!

[NOVEMBER 27th, 2007] IMPROVED MYCLU PORTAL.
ISS has just updated the MyCLU portal to use SSL secure connections to ensure the maximum level of privacy protection. As a result, some modifications needed to be made to the layout of the portal pages and the functionality of the tabs. All purple tabs in the portal that point to external applications requiring a login (Webmail, Webadvisor, CLU Alert, Weblog, etc.) now come up in a pop-up window. Pop-up blockers, as well as bookmarks, need to be updated in order for the updated Portal to work properly. If you click on a link in the Portal, but do not see the page for that specific link, you have pop-ups blocked on your browser. For more documentation, which includes helpful screenshots, please visit the online guide How to Navigate the Improved MyCLU Portal. You can also find a .PDF and .DOC version of this guide as well by going to http://www.callutheran.edu/myclu.

[NOVEMBER 26th, 2007] NEW WEBMAIL SYSTEM.
Cal Lutheran announces a new Webmail program for students. Starting on November 26, 2007, a new email tab will appear in the myCLU portal called simply "Webmail." The new Webmail program will be available alongside the old Webmail (which is labeled as "Old Webmail") until December 19, 2007, when the old Webmail will be retired. The new Webmail will contain the same email and folders as the old, along with your address book. The new Webmail program is faster and simpler to use. Please contact the Cal Lutheran Help Desk at x3698 with questions.

[NOVEMBER 26th, 2007] MICROSOFT OFFICE 2007 ROLLOUT.
Cal Lutheran announces the Microsoft Office 2007 Rollout Open Houses! Starting in December, we will begin to install Office 2007 on faculty, staff, and adminstration computers. Don't miss out on finding out the basics of the Office 2007 system! Please visit the Microsoft Office 2007 Rollout page on the Computer Training site for more information, plus a schedule!

[FALL 2007] OFFICE 2003 + 2007.
All computer labs and Media Services laptops are now equipped with both the 2003 and the newer 2007 versions of Microsoft Office. By default, Office 2007 programs open whenever you double-click on a file. However, if you would like to use Office 2003 instead, there is a file folder on the desktop that is labeled accordingly. Open the 2003 version of the program first, then go to File ►Open to retrieve your document.
