Evidence of SLOs
Direct evidence includes the assessment of student work that provides evidence of what students know and can do, and their level of competence for identified learning outcomes.
Indirect evidence provides data gathered from participants’ perceptions of why and how well a learning outcome was or wasn’t achieved, as collected from surveys, exit interviews, and focus groups.
Direct Evidence
Direct Evidence has been collected through a project of assessing student papers as well as identifying and collecting data from student signature assignments.
- Written Communication, Information Literacy, and Critical Thinking (WIC) Student Learning Outcomes
- Assessing student papers.
- Signature Assignments
Indirect Evidence
Students complete institutional and national surveys. The survey responses provide us with students’ perception of their improvement in each of Cal Lutheran's Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs).
Links are provided to each survey and data received.
Noel-Levitz Student Satisfaction Inventory provides SLOs data from traditional undergraduate, Bachelor's Degree for Professionals, and graduate students.
National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) provides data relating to SLOs for traditional undergraduate students. In addition, the Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (FSSE) provides achievement of SLOs data from the faculty’s perspective.
