Job Title – Service & Leadership Intern (academic year and summer positions available)

Description of Duties

  • Connect with community partners to offer service project opportunities for CLU students
  • Act as a liaison and resource for students interested in getting involved in service
  • Plan and execute on campus service and social justice events
  • Create meaningful dialogues on campus through Interfaith events
  • Advertise and promote Community Service Center events to the CLU community
  • Promote Interfaith Allies and build interfaith training/knowledge on campus

Qualifications

  • Interest in serving the community and leadership development
  • Willingness to connect with other students on campus to share service opportunities 
  • Event planning experience preferred 

Work Environment and Possible Hazards

  • Frequent interruptions and/or distractions
  • Must be able to lift 5 pounds
  • Possible physical labor involved in off-campus service projects

Job Title – Wellness Intern (academic year positions available) 

Description of Duties

  • Assist the Wellness Coordinator with assigned tasks involving Freshman Seminar, events and Stall Street Journal
  • Coordinate campus-wide Wellness Programs such as: HalloWellness and Safe Spring Break
  • Collaborate with Resident Assistants, Peer Advisors and campus partners to develop programs and First Year Experience presentations for various settings and populations
  • Assist with marketing and promotion of Wellness campaigns, events and programs through consultation with Associate Director of Student Life and Marketing Intern(s)
  • Assist in implementing, coordinating and evaluating programs for the main focus areas of Wellness: Alcohol and other drugs, Physical Wellness, Mental Wellness, Social Wellness
  • Research and develop new Wellness initiatives
  • Attend Wellness staff meetings and/or weekly 1:1’s

Qualifications

  • Some previous experience or education in Wellness related topics such as alcohol and drug awareness, mental health, physical and emotional health, sexual assault, and social wellness
  • Customer service experience
  • Event planning experience

Job Title – Student Life Marketer (academic year and summer positions available)

Description of Duties

  • Design and edit marketing materials for all Student Life programs and events utilizing editing programs (i.e. Illustrator, InDesign, and/or Photoshop)
  • Order marketing materials from Printing Services and post around campus at approved posting locations
  • Upload and display marketing materials onto Four Winds Interactive display monitors located around campus
  • Assist with planning general Student Life programs and events

Qualifications

  • Prior experience with Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop required
  • Prior experience with Four Winds Interactive preferred

Job Title – Clubs and Orgs Intern (academic year positions available) 

Description of Duties

  • Keep up to date records and budgets for over 80+ clubs and organizations
  • Prepare and present accounting information for publications, clubs and organization budget committee meetings
  • Prepare information for clubs and organization Spring and Fall meetings
  • Assist with the planning and preparation for the once a semester involvement fairs
  • Update all club and organizations website
  • Communicate regularly with the clubs and organizations regarding their ASCLU funding
  • Research other schools clubs and orgs policies, accounting systems, information packets
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and experience working with Quickbooks
  • Comfort talking in front of peers for various presentations
  • General knowledge of Clubs and Orgs procedures on Cal Lutheran’s campus

Job Title – Center for Cultural Engagement and Inclusion Intern (academic year positions available) 

Description of Duties

  • Assist coordinators with cultural, social justice, heritage month, and other identity related programming
  • Serve as Diversity Peer Educators and present information on social justice issues 
  • Collaborate on programming/awareness initiatives with campus partners including: Center for Equality & Justice, Pearson Library, faculty, Resident Assistants, and others
  • Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, faculty, and other guests
  • Assist with the marketing and promotion of cultural campaigns, events, and programs through consultation with Assistant Director of Student Life and Marketing Intern(s)
  • Keep up-to-date and communicate campus climate concerns to Assistant Director of Student Life
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and weekly 1:1s

Qualifications 

  • Comfort talking in front of peers for various presentations
  • Foundational understanding of social justice issues and terminology (power, privilege, oppression, etc.)
  • Passion for social justice and inspiring change 
  • Awareness of, and sensitity to, issues pertaining to community members
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively 
  • Organizational skills

Job Title – Student Union Front Desk Worker (academic year and summer positions available)

Description of Duties

  • Greet people as they enter the Union
  • Receive calls, assist with questions, and be resourceful in finding information
  • Sell tickets for Regal Cinemas and other events. This requires accurately receiving orders online and tracking inventory
  • Plan and execute engaging student programs
  • Approve posters according to the CLU Publicity Policy
  • Perform administrative duties
  • Assist students in renting out various items, such as lockers, device chargers, HDMI cords, video games, board games, and other general items
  • Maintain the Student Union equipment and facilities
  • Assist Student Life with their activities
  • Attend Monthly Student Union Info Desk staff meetings
  • Escort visitors to appropriate staff offices for appointments
  • Make sure the kitchen is clean
  • Work with Wellness Resources to provide a smooth recereation process for students 

Qualifications

  • Be able to work independently, be self-motivated, and detail-oriented
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, moderate typing skills, and experience providing customer service
  • Front Desk Workers must have experience with, or interest in, planning programs
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends

Work Environment and Possible Hazards

  • Indoor, utilizing a computer and answering phone calls with constant interruptions
  • Handling customer service situations
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time
  • Pushing, pulling, or lifting up to 25 pounds
