Program Requirements
Major Requirements for a B.A. in Physics:
- Minimum Credits: 40 credits minimum (28 credits physics, 12 credits concentration)
- Upper Division Credits: 20
- Required Courses: Physics 211 (recommended) or 201, 212 (recommended) or 202, 303, at least two physics courses numbered 410 and above, at least one upper division physics course with a lab component beyond 303 and Physics 400 (capstone). The concentration is a minimum of 12 credits in a single field outside of math or phsics. It is expected that the presentation for the capstone will incorporate both physics and the field of concentration. Only physics courses numbered 200 and above can count toward the physics credit requirement.
- Required Supporting Courses: Mathematics 251, 252, 261, 265
- Recommended Courses: Computer Science 210, Mathematics 343, 420, 450
Major Requirements for a B.S. in Physics:
- Minimum Credits: 36
- Upper Division Credits: 27
- Required Courses: Physics 211 (recommended) or 201, 212, 303, at least four physics courses numbered 410 and above, at least one upper division physics course with a lab component beyond 303 and Physics 400 (capstone). Only physics courses numbered 200 and above can count toward the physics credit.
- Required Supporting Courses: Mathematics 251, 252, 344, 350
- Recommended Courses: Chemistry 151/152 with labs; Computer Science 210, Mathematics 343, 420, 450
