Workshops: A Collaboration Between Library Information Services and the Writing Center
Library Resources Workshop. Description: Discover full-text databases covering hundreds of subject areas and learn advanced searching techniques, how to use E-Journal Look-Up to find full-text articles, how to use database utilities to create references and works cited pages in APA, MLA, Chicago, and other style formats. Target Audience: Students who are not familiar with CLU’s research resources or want a refresher course on using research resources. Time: 45 minutes. EndNote® Workshop. Description: Learn how to use EndNote® to automatically generate reference lists, create in-text citations, and search databases. Prerequisite: Students must schedule an appointment with ISS to have EndNote® installed on their laptop prior to attending this workshop. Target Audience: Graduate students who write research papers. Full APA Style Workshop. Description: Learn all the ins and outs of the American Psychological Association Reference Style, including formatting of title pages, tables, and figures; in-text and reference page citations; using numbers appropriately; and preferred terminology. Updated APA Style Workshop. Description: The APA Reference Style recently upgraded from the 5th to the 6th edition. In this workshop, you will learn the differences between the two editions so that you can apply proper 6th edition-style APA to your papers. Target Audience: Students familiar with the APA Reference Style, 5th Edition, who need to know what changes were made to the 6th Edition. Time: 45 minutes. Word Style and Templates Workshop. Description: Microsoft Word has many tools available to make formatting a long paper easy. Learn how to use section breaks, automatic formatting, and styles. Emphasis will be on creating a template for writing the thesis. Target Audience: Students in the Graduate Clinical Psychology program who plan to write a thesis. Time: 1.5 hours.
