Founders Day Convocation

10:30am – 11:30am at Samuelson Chapel

Description

Each fall the university community, alumni and friends celebrate the founding of Cal Lutheran at this festive gathering. This year’s theme is Rooted and Reaching: Our Calling for the Common Good.” The program includes the formal installation and blessing of university governing bodies and student government, the presentation of the 2018 Outstanding Young Alumni Award to Oliver Thornton '16, and the presentation of the Christus Award to Rev. Glen '86 and Lauri Egertson, Executive Directors of Lutheran Camps, Retreats, and Conferences. 

Admission is free. Sponsored by the Division of Mission and Identity. The Founders Day Convocation will be streamed at CalLutheran.edu/live.

Inaugural CLUB 50 Celebration

During this inaugural year for CLUB 50, the classes of ’64, ’65, ’66, and ’67 will welcome the class of 1968 into CLUB 50 at a fun-filled celebration on the evening of Friday, October 19, as well as acitivites throughout the weekend. As members of this distinguished club, you can enjoy reconnecting with alumni from your class as well as surrounding years.

Founders Day Concert

7:30pm – 9:00pm at Samuelson Chapel

Description

The University String Symphony and Wind Ensemble celebrate homecoming with the annual Founders Day Concert.  The University String Symphony, under the direction of Dr. Yoshika Masuda, will perform masterworks from the string orchestra repertoire.  The Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Michael Hart, will close the concert with an eclectic mix of traditional favorites and exciting works by contemporary composers.

Loop da Lu 5k Family Run/Walk

9:00am – 11:00am at Kingsmen Park

Description

What better way to start the day than with an energizing run/walk around campus? Round up your friends, family and roommates to do the 7th Annual Loop da Lu together! Registration opens at 8am. Race starts at 9am. Pancake breakfast starts at 9:30.

Homecoming Festival

3:00pm – 7:00pm at Kingsmen Park

Description

The ultimate Cal Lu get together! The Homecoming Festival offers fun for all ages. Choose from inflatables for the kids, lawn games for all ages, good eats, and live music – all included for $15 per adult, $5 for undergraduate students and kids 12 and under. 

Festival & Beer Garden tickets for 21 and older is $20 (includes 3 drink tickets for soda or beer/wine)*. 

This year's Beer Garden is sponsored by Anheuser-Busch.

*Due to CLU alcohol policy, no undergraduate students (even if they are 21) will be allowed in the beer garden.*

**Ages 2- 20 will NOT be permitted in the beer garden. Children under 2 years of age must be carried in the beer garden at all times.*

Worship provides an opportunity for the community to gather and experience the bandwidth of God's grace. While worship unites us in one place and one time it serves as the reminder that God's people are gathered far and wide, just like the Cal Lutheran family.
