Submitting Booster Information & New Isolation/Quarantine Protocol
Dear Cal Lutheran students,
Happy New Year! We hope you enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing winter break, and look forward to welcoming you back to campus soon. This message serves as a follow up to the email sent by President Varlotta on December 23, 2021. As stated in that message, effective January 18, 2022, all students must show evidence of having received a booster (exemptions will be reviewed). If your last dose was more than five months ago for Pfizer, more than six months ago for Moderna, or more than two months ago for Johnson & Johnson, you must adhere to this requirement. When you log into MyCLU, you will be presented with a vaccine module at the top of your portal. This module will guide you to the student health forms page where you can submit your booster documentation.
Additionally, we have made some modifications to our Isolation and Quarantine protocols based on the CDC and Ventura County Public Health recommendations. Please read carefully.
NEW Isolation Protocol:
- Individuals who test positive with COVID-19 can end isolation after 5 days if symptoms are resolving AND they test negative on a COVID test on day 5 or later. However, they must continue to wear a mask in all settings for an additional 5 days. If unable to test or choosing not to test, they can end isolation after 10 days if symptoms are improving. If fever persists and/or symptoms are not improving after 10 days, the individual must continue to isolate until symptoms are resolving and there has been no fever for 24 hours.
NEW Quarantine Protocol:
- Individuals exposed to someone with COVID-19 must quarantine if they are either not fully vaccinated OR if they are eligible for a booster but do not have one (i.e., > 5 months after Pfizer, > 6 months after Moderna, or > 2 months after J&J). This means if you do not have your booster and are eligible, if you are exposed to COVID-19 you must quarantine.
- Quarantine for exposed individuals can end after 5 days if symptoms are not present AND they test negative on a COVID test on day 5 or later. They must continue to wear a mask in all settings for an additional 5 days.
- If exposed individuals are fully vaccinated and not yet eligible for a booster, or if they are boostered, they do not need to quarantine. However, they need to get tested 5 days after the exposure and wear a mask for 10 days.
Masking
- The mask mandate will continue in all indoor spaces in accordance with state and local guidance. We strongly encourage students to use high quality masks such as surgical or KN95 masks, ensure a snug fit, and completely cover your nose and mouth.
As always, please review the KNOW site for updates and a catalog of the latest email communications from the University.
I look forward to seeing you back on campus!
Melinda Roper, Ed.D.
Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students
