About this event

How does your staff represent the communities you serve or hope to serve? In what ways does your internal culture support and empower minoritized staff members? Join us for our May 2021 Nonprofit Leadership Council- Your Community, Your Leadership: Cultural Proficiency & Staying Relevant to the Communities You Serve as we discuss the importance of cultural proficiency and relevance in nonprofit work, in both the internal and external ways we pursue our organizational missions. The afternoon will feature a keynote presentation by Veronica Valadez, MA and Gabriel Orosco, of Ehecatl Wind Philosophies, defining and discussing the importance of cultural proficiency in the nonprofit sector. Participants will be guided to reflect on how your organization’s cultural competency directly impacts your ability to hire and empower BIPOC staff, as well as your ability to build trust with the communities you serve. Following the keynote presentation, join us for a panel where we will hear from local organizations about the ways cultural proficiency and relevancy show up in their organization’s work.

Special thanks to our event sponsor, First 5 Ventura County!
