COVID Vaccination Requirement Update for Students
Dear Cal Lutheran Students and Student Workers,
There have been several questions regarding the Cal Lutheran COVID vaccination requirement since President Varlotta’s message several weeks ago. While we are still finalizing some of the details regarding how proof of vaccination will be collected and exemptions will be managed, we wanted to provide you an update about some deadlines for the vaccination.
All student employees who are working on any of our campuses should plan to submit their proof of vaccination no later than Thursday, July 15. This is the same date that all other employees will need to show proof of vaccination. We expect to have information about how to submit your proof and the process that we need to follow next week. The latest information is always available on the Cal Lutheran Know page, and we will also notify the campus community as soon as new information regarding the proof of vaccination becomes available.
For traditional undergraduate students who are returning to campus this Fall, you will need to submit your proof of vaccination by August 1. Again, the submission process will be provided in a follow-up email message next week. Students in the Professionals undergrad and graduate programs are required to submit their proof of vaccination by August 1; further specific guidance and deadlines will come in a future communication directly from the university, your school, or your program. PLTS students must submit their proof of vaccination by August 11. Students in all programs who enroll after the date proof of vaccination is required will need to submit proof within 5 days prior to the start of the term.
We are sending you this email today so that you have plenty of time to comply with the requirement. As we have all come to learn, information and requirements regarding COVID change often. Given the quick-changing environment we are all in, some of the logistics regarding policy details are still being ironed out. Even though additional information is forthcoming, we thought it was important to share as much information as we can at this time.
Please know that Cal Lutheran will work with students who may have difficulty accessing vaccinations. Undocumented immigrants and international students are eligible for the vaccines with a Cal Lutheran ID. If international students are unable to access vaccination prior to their arrival at Cal Lutheran, they will be expected to start the immunization process during their first week on any of our campuses. All vaccines authorized by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or World Health Organization (WHO) will be accepted to meet the requirement.
Again, we will share information about the vaccine proof submission and exemption processes as soon as it is available. In the meantime, please direct your questions to COVIDquestions@callutheran.edu or visit the Cal Lutheran Know page for the latest information.
