About

David L. Elias has been an adjunct instructor in the Criminal Justice and Legal Studies Department, California Lutheran University, since 2004.

He has also taught in the Addictive Disorders Program at Oxnard College, the Department of Sociology, LaVerne University, Pt. Mugu and Palmdale, College.

He is also employed, contractually, as a Special Investigator, FBI/BICS ( Background Investigations Contract Services), Wash. D.C., which involves Federal background investigations for national security clearances.

In 2004, he retired as a Senior United States Probation Officer, United States District Court in Los Angeles. The last 12 years were served as a Drug Treatment Specialist. He was a department training officer in investigative interviewing, offender-revocation procedures, drug/alcohol addiction, substance abuse intervention, and drug testing.

He has also served, on numerous occasions, as a panelist for the Ventura County Sheriff's Department, Training Academy, in Camarillo on multicultural issues and its impact on the community and policing.

He is a native of California; married for 40 years and raised 4 children. He was in the U.S. Army, and served in Vietnam (1967-1968), in a Psychological Warfare unit.
