At the School of Management we have added new faculty members. 

Chia-Li (Jolly) Chien

Instructor and Program Director, MBA, MS and Minor in Financial Planning

 

Prior to joining Cal Lutheran, Chia-Li (“Jolly”) Chien was CFP® Program Director at Ball State University. She is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), and a Project Management Professional (PMP), and is currently ABD at The American College. Before her academic career, she held several senior management positions in Fortune 500 companies like Diageo, ABB, CIGNA, and RSA Insurance Group. She maintains an active succession consulting practice that is dedicated to helping private business owners increase the equity value of their firms. She is the award-winning author of the books "Show Me The Money" and "Work Toward Reward," and her blog and newsletter was named a Top Small Business Resource by the New York Times You're the Boss blog.

Stefan Cosentino

Assistant Professor and Program Director, Major in Hospitality Management and Tourism

Stefan Cosentino received his PhD from the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) hospitality administration program and his MBA from Rollins College Crummer School of Business. Prior to joining Cal Lutheran, Stefan Cosentino served as professional consultant for the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) where he taught and developed partnerships with hospitality employers to create experiential learning experiences for students. Stefan Cosentino’s primary focus for academic publication production is teaching cases. Several of his current works were developed from his prior industry experience or through collaborations with industry professionals. Prior to entering academia in a full-time capacity, Stefan Cosentino worked in the hospitality industry for 12 years – first at Walt Disney World contributing to various marketing initiatives including the Annual Pass Program, brand and segment management, and theme park budget cost accounting, and then – among others – as Wyndham Vacation Resorts director of marketing. Early hospitality or service roles included frontline food and beverage operations and retail management.

Erika Fischer

Visiting Assistant Professor, Marketing

Erika Fischer began her career leading trade delegations and developing business relationships for small and medium-sized businesses in Russia, China, and Europe.  More recently, she has managed a diverse array of strategic marketing programs and research studies for social marketing causes as well as global brands such as Sony Pictures Entertainment, SAP, Whole Foods, Toyota, Mazda, Microsoft, Intel, Cedars Sinai, Prime Healthcare, UCLA-Anderson, USC, Aids Healthcare Foundation, Los Angeles Department of Health, Metropolitan Water District, First 5 California, Aids Healthcare Foundation, and others. Erika holds a Masters in Global Management from Thunderbird as well as a PhD in Marketing from Washington State University.  Besides her industry experience, Dr. Fischer has published in the areas of marketing strategy, branding, and cross-cultural consumer behavior, and she is joining Cal Lutheran for the second time.

Malcolm Oliver

Assistant Professor and Program Director, Master of Public Policy and Administration

Malcolm K. Oliver joins the School of Management to serve as the Program Director for the Master of Public Policy and Administration (MPPA) program. Prior to Cal Lutheran, he served as the MPPA Program Director at National Louis University in Chicago, and as the MPA Program Director at the College of New Rochelle in New York. Malcolm started his educational journey at Mt. San Antonio Community College, and after two years, transferred to the University of California Riverside, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. During his time as an undergraduate, he studied for one year as an exchange student at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. Malcolm then graduated with a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from California State Polytechnic University Pomona, and subsequently completed his PhD in Public and Urban Administration from the University of Texas Arlington. Prior to academia, Malcolm worked as a city planner in Riverside County and then in the City of Pomona, California. He then became Development Coordinator with the City of Lancaster, Texas, where he coordinated the work of the Planning, Building, and Engineering Departments to streamline the development review process. In this capacity, Malcolm also worked on projects that were highly visible, inter-jurisdictional, and administratively complex, such as the Southern Dallas County Infrastructure Analysis and Lancaster’s Annexation Plan which increased the size of the city by 27 percent.

Dan Vo

Assistant Professor, Entrepreneurship

Dan received his PhD in Economics with special focus in entrepreneurial finance from the University of Victoria in 2013. Prior to joining us, Dan was a faculty member at Hartwick College where he was also the director of the Baker Simpson Entrepreneurship Program and the founder and academic advisor of Hartwick College’s Investment Club. Prior to that, Dan was a Research Fellow at the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia. As a huge believer in experiential learning, Dan works diligently in bringing real-life experiences and practical applications to his classes through a variety of activities ranging from guest speaker series to case discussions to projects with local businesses. In his research, Dan focuses primarily on entrepreneurial finance. He is currently working on several projects that explain how angel investors and venture capitalists finance early-stage ventures. Dan published in the Journal of Small Business Management and has several papers under review at other journals.
