Vocation Across the Academy NetVUE Gathering

Vocation Across the Academy: Calling, Conflict, and the Necessity of Action

vocation

March 9-10, 2018 | California Lutheran University

Purpose

This NetVUE gathering is designed to bring participants into a professional learning community  focusing on the content and potential campus uses of the second book in the NetVUE Scholarly Resources Project, Vocation across the Academy: A New Vocabulary for Higher Education. This gathering will give campus leaders an opportunity to consider the implications of the book for their work in developing and promoting programs for vocational exploration and discernment. We invite attendance by leaders of vocational initiatives at NetVUE colleges and universities, including faculty, staff professionals, mission officers, chaplains, and directors of vocational centers. If you are not currently a member of a NetVUE institution and would like to attend, please contact David Cunningham, Director of NetVUE, at dcunningham@cic.nche.edu.

Resource Leaders

Plenary session leaders include: Dr. David Cunningham, Director of NetVUE and editor of Vocation across the Academy, in the opening and closing sessions of the gathering; Jason Mahn, Associate Professor of Religion at Augustana College (IL) and the author of a chapter in the book titled “The Conflicts in Our Callings: The Anguish (and Joy) of Willing Several Things”; and Lynn Hunnicutt, Professor of Economics at Pacific Lutheran University, who also serves as  a NetVUE Consultant. These leaders will provide structured comments in the plenary context, which will complement small group discussion and experiences of the Cal Lutheran campus context.
