Faculty Success Program

The Offices of the Center for Teaching and Learning, Senior Associate Provost, and Provost encourage Cal Lutheran faculty members to participate in the National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity’s (NCFDD) Faculty Success Program (FSP).

Next Session: Summer 2022 - May 15 - August 6, 2022

NCFDD’s 12-week Faculty Success Program is an intensive virtual bootcamp where academics work directly with a coach and small peer group to implement the skills and strategies taught in the core curriculum. The program is intended for tenure-track and tenured faculty members who are looking for the perfect combination of intense accountability, coaching and peer support to propel their research productivity and work-life balance to a whole new level.

Participation in the NCFDD Faculty Success Program is open to all tenure-track and tenured faculty members who are active NCFDD members.

How does it work?

Each Faculty Success Program participant is assigned to a small group (3-4 people) that is led by an NCFDD-Certified Coach. Every week, participants meet for their small-group call with their coach for 75-minutes per week. During this call, participants will share their goals for the week as well as review the previous week’s goals.

Participants will complete the self-directed weekly modules as well as coach-guided homework every week. Every week-day during the program, participants will log on to the FSP platform, WriteNow, to check in and track their daily progress on writing, research, and personal goals. FSP participants should anticipate spending 1.5 - 2 hours each week watching the weekly training videos and completing the homework assignments.

By the end of the program, participants will have developed the skills and habits they need to move forward with increased research and writing productivity and a better work-life balance.

Program Sponsorship

The Office of the Provost is pleased to provide funding assistance on a matching fund or scholarship basis for the equivalent of two fully funded scholarships to tenure-track faculty members who contribute to inclusiveness, equity, and diversity in their department and/or college/school for sponsored participation in the Faculty Success Program. Tenure-track faculty members are selected for awards through a nomination process administered by the Office of Faculty Development and Inclusive Excellence. Chairs and/or Deans may submit nominations for tenure-track faculty members when the call for nominations is announced for Faculty Success Program sessions.

The Office of the Provost with the Center for Teaching and Learning will announce a call for nominations for sponsorship before each Faculty Success Program begins. Matching funds (50/50) or scholarships (up to two full scholarships) are offered to cover the cost of the priority registration fee ($4,150) for tenure-track faculty members.
