Math Placement Exam
The Math Placement Exam helps determine an appropriate first math class at California Lutheran University. The goal is to determine a math courses that will allow you to grow and develop your mathematical reasoning skills while assuring you have the appropriate background and the needed resources for success. Please take some time to review concepts from geometry, algebra, trigonometry, and precalculus (if you have completed precalculus) before starting the exam.
How to access your Math Placement Exam
- Log in to MyCLU
- Click on Canvas on the left-hand side panel.
- Click on the Courses tab on the left-hand side panel.
- Click on the course MATH-EXAM-01 - 26/SU for Summer Session 2026
- Read the exam instructions. (You will have 55 minutes to answer the 40 questions.)
- To request disability-related testing accommodations, contact Disability Support Services at DSS@CalLutheran.edu.
- Click on “Modules” to view information about the exam and a shortened Example of the Math Placement Exam.
- When you are ready to begin, click the "Math Placement Exam".
- Then click the "Take the Quiz" button following the instructions.
- After completing each question, click the next button.
- Only click the “Submit Quiz” button when you have completed the entire Exam and are ready to finish.
