Meet the PALs
The ALLIES in STEM Center employs Peer Academic Leaders (PALs) who work to support the success of our program and our students.
- Peer Mentors participate in faculty-sponsored research, live and work with our STEM Academy over the summer, and serve as Mentors to first-year STEM Scholars throughout the academic year.
- Peer Tutors work within STEM departments to offer one-on-one tutoring support to all students.
- Student Workers are integral members of our ALLIES in STEM Center staff. They provide administrative support to our team, and connect all students and Center visitors to appropriate ALLIES in STEM resources.

- Peer Tutors
Emily is an undergraduate student majoring in Psychology. As a tutor, her strengths include helping clients with grammar, APA, as well as improving content (focused response to prompt). She hopes to make many connections over the next few years working as a writing consultant, and help many students feel more confident as writers.
When she is not in class or working at the Writing Center, she is usually trying to keep herself entertained by trying new things. Her hobbies include reading, watching films, cooking, listening to music, and drawing. She is enamored with old films (some of my favorites are Some Like it Hot, Bonnie and Clyde, and Roman Holiday) and she has a wide variety in music taste ranging from rock to classical to pop. Some of her favorite authors include Steinbeck, Hardy, and Shakespeare. She also adores baking french pastries, drinking cappuccinos, and finding new recipes to try out.
I am currently a second year, majoring in Mathematics and Computer Science with a minor in Entrepreneurship. I aspire to a career in post-secondary education as a Mathematics professor. I plan on attending graduate school and conducting research in mathematics.
My interests/hobbies include math, soccer, and hanging out with friends. I have been playing for the Men's Varsity Soccer team for two years and am a member of the Computer Science Club and SSS. Overall, I am a focused and determined individual who attempts to understand others on all levels.
I am a senior majoring in Physics, with a minor in Mathematics. My future goal is to become an aerospace engineer, and to do so I will be attending a Master’s program in the field. I have been playing for the Men's Varsity Soccer team for the past four years, as well as being a member of the physics club.
I am originally from Mexico City and I also cut hair as a side job. In conclusion, I am highly dedicated to succeed in my academics, but I also cherish the many experiences I have acquired as a full time student athlete.
I am a fourth year majoring in Exercise Science with an emphasis on health professions. I plan to graduate and hopefully attend graduate school to obtain my doctorate in Physical Therapy. I currently run on the Cross Country and Track team for the CLU team, internship as a PE assistant for Dr. Kelly, and work at a physical therapy clinic as an aide.
My interests/hobbies are binging Netflix, running, and going out to try new food places. In a nutshell, I am hard working and determined when it comes to my studies. And I look forward to working with STEM students to achieve their goals.
