Paul and Naomi Overton

Honorary Alumni

Naomi and Paul Overton have been interested and excited about CLU since its founding in 1959.  Naomi’s parents, Fred and Veryl Fredrickson, were instrumental in the early development of the school through the Fellows program.  Naomi and Paul became charter members of the CLC Parents Club when their daughters, Tina ’70 Brende and Becky ’72 France, decided to attend the growing college.

Over the years, the Overtons have been generous in their support of the University.  Naomi served on the planning committee for Samuelson Chapel and helped to provide the stained glass windows in memory of her father.  Recent contributions to Overton Hall in the Soiland Humanities Center demonstrate their ongoing interest in the University’s capital development.  And last December they endowed the Fredrickson-Overton Scholarship for students who show interest in leadership and service.

Though neither graduated from a church-related school, both Naomi and Paul appreciate the importance of a Christian education.  Naomi attended St. Olaf College for two years before graduating from University of Southern California.  Paul also graduated from USC and USC Law School.  He practiced law for 20 years prior to serving as a Superior Court Judge for 19 years.

Naomi and Paul wholeheartedly support the mission of CLU and its commitment to educating Christian leaders.  They appreciate being a part of the CLU family.
