My freshman year at California Lutheran University, was everything I imagined and more. Being part of the Women’s Basketball team was the most amazing experience! I had the opportunity to meet such wonderful teammates and coaches. While the year was cut short because of Covid-19, the memories I made this year are irreplaceable! Due to the unfortunate circumstances the world is facing today, my family and I wanted to do something to help out our community. Knowing that we have a lot of elderly and vulnerable people in our neighborhood we decided to put notes in each person’s mailbox. Letting them know that if they are susceptible to the virus, or feel unsafe going to the grocery store or pharmacy to get what they may need, we would help out in any way we could. Offering that we would do the grocery runs or pharmacy pickups for them. After putting the notes in each mailbox, we got replies from a handful of people. They were very gracious for our offer because it put them at ease knowing they would not need to leave their house, and risk their health. It was great to be able to help our community, and stick together to get through this unprecedented time.
