I have had the pleasure of teaching as an adjunct faculty member in the Bachelor’s Degree for Professionals program (formerly ADEP) at CLU since 2006. I teach in the fields of leadership, organizational behavior, organization design, and human resource management. While there are many rewarding aspects of working with the dedicated students in this program, I’ve found the most rewarding to be when students tell me how they’ve been able to apply what they’re learning to their jobs and enhance their work experience. Students in the Professionals program have been in the working world for some time and have returned to school to gain knowledge and skills that will enable them to enhance their careers. Most are juggling multiple responsibilities, including families, work, and school, yet they show up for classes and participate in various learning activities weekly to achieve their goals. Being able to help our students gain knowledge and skills they can use in their lives leads me to want to continuing teaching in the Professionals program for many more years.
