Teaching in the Fifty and Better (FAB) program

After a 35-year teaching career at Santa Monica College, I was delighted to be asked to teach architecture and design history classes for the FAB program. I thoroughly enjoyed my years with the younger generation of students at SMC, but any references to the Beatles, the Vietnam War, or even Boy George were met with blank stares. What a joy it is to speak to an audience of my own generation (some younger, some older) and have those knowing looks and head nods of understanding! I’ve had so many lovely moments with the fabulous students of FAB and have made many new friends. The enthusiasm and depth and breadth of knowledge that FAB students bring to the classes inspires and motivates me, and I consider myself quite fortunate to be a member of the FAB faculty!
