Fifty and Better Program

My name is Joan, and I am a student in the Fifty and Better program. I am grateful that this program exists for learners age 50+ and offers opportunities remotely. I still talk about three FAB classes I took with other retirees, and I encourage them to take a class if they are able. The first is “Holidays Under Fire” with Dr. Wilcox. The historical and culture facts Dr. Wilcox presented countered what I know about several American holidays, and it caused me to rethink what I celebrate on certain national holidays. The other classes that were life-changing for me were “Today’s Struggle for Civil Rights” with Dr. Hensley and “The Civil War and Its Legacy Today” with Dr. Kimball. The professors brought in so much detail on the topics and included important photos and audio clips to keep me engaged.
