Education Credit Courses

Continuing and Professional Education courses and credits are not applicable to credentials, undergraduate, or graduate degree programs. These opportunities are designed for professional training, skill enhancement, and personal enrichment. Formal admission to the university is not required for enrollment and there is no limit to the number of courses a person may take.

All teachers are advised to consult their school district salary allocation departments and/or union bargaining agreements for semester unit and workload salary point equivalencies prior to registering for Continuing and Professional Education courses for credit. These equivalencies vary by school district. Cal Lutheran offers a Professional Education Semester Credit, which carries a workload of 15 contact hours per semester credit, with outside assignments at the discretion of the instructor.

Available Courses

Spanish for Educators (EDUC 901A)

1-3 credits

This is an introductory Spanish course designed to teach basic communication for school personnel to better communicate with Spanish-speaking students and their parents. The class is structured around the on-line telenovela “Destinos” for vocabulary, grammar and conversation. In addition to language, culture and its implication for understanding Spanish-speaking students is an integral component of this course.
