During new DHH candidate orientation students review and are provided with the DHH Candidate Handbook, introducing students to the DHH TPE 7.

During the fall semester and prior to beginning clinical practice in spring, the Clinical Practice Handbook is reviewed with students, including the requirements during clinical practice related to the foundational skills aligned with DHH TPE 7.

Students are informed that they will be assessed during clinical practice (final semester) using the Clinical Evaluation Form (DHH TPE 7).

During clinical practice EDDH 560, the university supervisor and cooperating teacher  mentor and support candidates in demonstrating the required skills and knowledge. Candidates are required to design lesson plans using the DHH Lesson Plan Template and submit them to both the supervisor and cooperating teacher 48 hours prior to each observation. The supervisor will provide verbal and written feedback to improve lesson quality. Over the course of the clinical practice, candidates will be observed six times. Candidates will be evaluated with the DHH Clinical Evaluation Form which is linked to the DHH TPE’s 1-7.
