Associate Professor Carol Coman has been awarded Emeritus status by the Board of Regents of California Lutheran University.  She retired, after 30 years of continuous full time teaching at CLU.  The focus of Professor Coman's continuing research has been on assessment and academic integrity of student work and degrees. Her work has resulted in publication of her writing on assessment and academic honor and integrity.  She is often asked to and does present results of her research and work at national and international conferences.  She taught courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Carol Coman has been appointed as a team member by WSCUS (formerly WASC).  The teams of WSCUS review institutions as to maintenance or (in some cases) awards of accredited status and makes recommendations to the Commission.  That volunteer work will continue, on an as requested basis, into her retirement years.

Until recently, she has been faculty adviser for the CLU Accounting Association for over 20 years.

Professor Coman is currently faculty co-advisor/mentor for the President's Council on Honor and Integrity, a student run honor council and club on campus.  She is also actively involved in the International Center for Academic Integrity, with a goal of fostering a culture of academic integrity at CLU and at other institutions.  In her retirement, that work and research will continue in the Southeast Region of the ICAI.  (Carol has moved to Athens, GA.)

She is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and maintained a current license and membership in the Institute of Certified Management Accountants (ICMA) until retiring from CLU.   She is also a Certified Financial Manager (CFM) with credentials from the ICMA.  She maintained both designations by completing the required Continuing Professional Education (CPE) hours, which include research and test success in "ethics."
