About

Ruth Kuo began her musical education with private piano lessons when she was five. She also took percussion lessons at age eight, and guitar lesson when she was eleven. Throughout grade school, she performed and competed in a number of music festivals and state conventions. Her piano lessons with Edward Francis, a professor at Pepperdine University and California State University, Northridge (CSUN), continued until she entered university to pursue a B.A. in Music.

At CSUN, Ruth Kuo received a two-year scholarship for her outstanding playing.  She studied  with Francoise Regnat, a graduate of the Paris Conservatory with first prizes in both piano and chamber music who was also awarded the Grand Prix du Disque Franz Liszt in Budapest. Ruth graduated in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in piano performance.

Ruth has been teaching piano for over ten years. She is the music director at Conejo Valley Chinese Christian Church and plays for concerts and recitals.  She also has a private piano studio, and her students have been major prize winners in the Southern California Contemporary Festival and other competitions organized by the Music Teachers’ Association of California. In addition to classical music, Ruth also regularly performs and accompanies jazz and church music. She currently resides in Thousand Oaks, California, and enjoys teaching out of her home studio.
