Attention lifelong learners - brush up on your skills or learn a new one by attending an open class! Choose from the arts, science, or even a foreign language. No registration is necessary, but please plan to arrive on time and stay for the duration of the class out of respect for our professors and students.

Picnic in the Park

Description

Students, families, alumni, faculty and staff are invited to join the Student Life in Kingsmen Park for a free Taco Bar, music, lawn games, entertainment and more!

Founders Day Concert

7:30pm – 9:00pm at Samuelson Chapel

Description

The University String Symphony and Wind Ensemble celebrate homecoming with the annual Founders Day Concert.  The University String Symphony, under the direction of Dr. Yoshika Masuda, will perform masterworks from the string orchestra repertoire.  The Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Michael Hart, will close the concert with an eclectic mix of traditional favorites and exciting works by contemporary composers.

Annual 5k Family Run/Walk - Loop da Lu

8:00am – 11:00am at Kingsmen Park

This event requires registration.

Description

What better way to start the day than with an energizing run/walk around campus? Round up your friends, family and roommates to do the 7th annual 5k loop together! Registration opens at 8am. Race starts at 9am. Pancake breakfast starts at 9:30.

SEEd Project Garden Tour

11:00am – 12:00pm at SEEd Project Garden/Fry Family Outdoor Classroom

Description

Come out to the SEEd Project (Sustainable Edible Education) garden to see what’s growing, meet current student leaders, and learn about our program. You’ll see our pollinator hotel, chickens, apiary, and worm composting operation, in addition to our outdoor community kitchen made with reclaimed and recycled materials. 

Come enjoy home grown lavendar tea and pizza with toppings grown in the garden made in our stone oven in the garden. Tours and food available at 11am and 1pm. The garden will be open all weekend.

Start your Homecoming off right with a tour of campus. Visit favorite spots and see what’s new from the perspective of your own Admissions tour guide. 

 

Homecoming Festival

3:00pm – 7:00pm at Kingsmen Park

Description

The ultimate Cal Lu get together! The Homecoming Festival offers fun for all ages. Choose from inflatables for the kids, lawn games for all ages, good eats, beer garden, and live music – all included for $15 per adult and $5 for undergraduate students. Kids 12 and under are free. 

Come enjoy all-beef hot dogs, italian sausages, chicken apple sausages, veggie dogs, street tacos (chicken, beef, or vegetarian), chips & salsa, kettle corn, warm pretzels, lemonade, water, spirits (3 drink tickets for 21 and older).

*Due to CLU alcohol policy, no undergraduate students (even if they are 21) will be allowed in the beer garden.

**Children ages 2- 20 will NOT be permitted in the beer garden. Children under 2 years of age must be carried in the beer garden at all times.*

Worship

10:00am – 11:00am at Samuelson Chapel

Description

Worship provides an opportunity for the community to gather and experience the bandwidth of God's grace. While worship unites us in one place and one time it serves as the reminder that God's people are gathered far and wide, just like the Cal Lutheran family.

Do you know that money gets tight for some of our students? A portion of the offering at this worship will be given to the student food pantry, please give generously.
