Christina (Iverson) Myren

Career Achievement

Christina (Iverson ’68) Myren was a classroom mentor/teacher with the Conejo Valley Unified School District.  She received a master’s in elementary education from California State University, Northridge (CSUN) in 1971, and has been a part time instructor at CLU, Pepperdine and CSUN.  Her publications include Posing Open Ended Questions (1995), Milk Carton Math (1997) and Digging Into Dinosaurs (1999).  Christina has received many awards as well, including the CLU Outstanding Alumnus Award in 1990, the Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce Teaching Excellence Award, Outstanding Math Teacher-Ventura County, and was a California Presidential Awardee for Excellence in Elementary Education.  Her current and former community activities include Ascension Lutheran Church, the CLU Alumni Board of Directors, the CLU Homecoming Committee and Math in the Mall.  Christina states that her most significant career accomplishment has been to observe and share the work of primary children in her books and articles.  She also notes, “As an undergraduate, I never imagined that my English major would be so valuable.”
