Lily (Lil) Mary Lopez

Honorary Alumni

Lil joined the Cal Lutheran community in 1966 and for almost 25 years she supervised the “Café” and the meals that were served to thousands of students.  To put it another way, the Food Services Department was Lil’s second home, if not her first.

Lil’s long association with the Dallas Cowboys was also a source of great satisfaction for her.  For six weeks every summer she planned the meals and bought the food for these heft eaters.

Lil is the mother of three grown children and the widow of Clarence Lopez with whom she ran the Pass Club restaurant prior to coming to Cal Lutheran.

When she retired February 1990, Lil said, “It is with mixed emotions that I say goodbye to my University family. I have spent almost 25 years here and for most of them I was directly responsible for the success of the food service program…I will mist being here; the University has become a great part of my life.”

Lil Lopez has been integral to the life of the University.  Her dedicated commitment to her work and the many, many students she nourished is a legacy that will not be forgotten.
