Come home. Give back. Make a difference.
Give back during Homecoming by joining the Cal Lutheran Community and Food Share Ventura County for a hands-on service project. Volunteers will work together to assemble Kitchen Free Bags, which provide food and essential supplies to individuals experiencing homelessness who do not have access to a kitchen.
About the Program:
During the pandemic, Ventura County’s homeless population increased by 25%, reaching 2,238 individuals. In response, Food Share launched the Kitchen-Free Program in 2020 to provide nutritious, ready-to-eat meals to individuals who do not have access to a kitchen.
Each Kitchen-Free bag contains protein-rich and easy-to-eat items such as canned tuna, crackers, soups, pre-cooked meals, applesauce, and peanut butter. Since its launch, Food Share has distributed more than 30,000 Kitchen-Free bags to local partners serving individuals experiencing homelessness.
Our Goal: Together, our goal is to pack 1,200 Kitchen-Free bags during the event!
